I have a very poor video of this performance and I also have a DVD containing it. Unfortunately everyone else I have spoken to has a similar poor copy video. These look like third or fourth generation copies and I just wonder if there is anyone out there who has a viewable copy of the show. I would die to be able to see Al Koran properly. Help .........

Martin....
Did Al Koran appear only once on the Sullivan show? From the phrasing of your post, it would appear so. Anyhow, I have a video of him on the Sullivan show that is in very good condition. I TIVO'd it from TV, copied to video tape and then to the PC. It's about 4 minutes long and about 39 Mb. Are you interested?

The one I have from the Sullivan Show is 9 minutes long, including the trailer to the show and the introduction by Ed Sullivan. It features the Gold Medallion and the newspaper headline effect from Legacy.

"The Ed Sullivan Show" Episode broadcast July 6th 1969
Guests: Bobby Vinton - "Those Were The Days" and a medley ("Blue Velvet," "Take Good Care of My Baby" and "Please Love Me Forever") Lainie Kazan (actress-singer) - sings "Love" The Sugar Shoppe (Canadian group) - performs "Poor Papa" (1920's song) and "Save The Country." Gordon MacRae - "America the Beautiful" (he recites, then sings, the lyrics). Jackie Vernon (comedian) Shirley Bassey - "This is My Life". Al Koran (mentalist) info from TVTOME.com
Sullivan clips are very expensive to license.
I was surprised to see this fun sequence aired in 1969. The look of the audience and the 'Napoleon Solo' reference fooled me into thinking it was much older. Sullivan was an obvious fan and very generous in his attempts to whip up enthusiasm in a theatre that appears half dead. Did Koran slip up with the newspaper sheets?
