For almost two years, Max Maven has served as the entertainment director of the Magic Castle which involves booking and coordinating all of the acts that perform in the club. It was recently announced on the Magic castle message board that Max had announced his resignation. As the story began to leak to the Interwebs, I thought it best to get the story directly from the man himself. READ MORE

Thanks!

I am in the process of editing a chat with them as fans of magic and "experts" on popular entertainment with regards to magic and the Castle. Should be online tomorrow. Their video tour was great!

Thanks, Dodd. It was good to get a report straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak).

Max Maven will be a tough act to follow for who ever steps into his shoes. I am looking forward to a new book or DVD from Mr. Maven now that he has more time on his hands to devote to his craft.

Max was a real catch as entertainment director. I can only guess at what a difficult and thankless task it must often be. In the two years he did the job it seems that every magician has become a mindreader. Time for the master to return now that he has a little more time and energy at his disposal. You did a great job Max, thanks.

Is there anyone being concidered for the posisition? What about John B. Pyka? I have worked with him at "music city magic" and if there is anyone who knows how to book a good show it's him! His current day job has him working with all sorts of personalities- so naturally he is a good candidate to work with all types of people. Besides that he is an outside party to the castle- he is not tied up in all of the politics there. If you are at all familiar with his books you would also know that the posisition Maven left is exactally what John knows by heart. Granted, Max Maven will be a hard act to follow- but I don't see why we coulden't give John a chance... Do you?

Why are you posting that here? If Pyka wants to apply for the job, he needs to be living in Los Angeles and apply directly to the board of the Academy of Magical Arts.

Funny. Thanks for the vote of confidence Ray. ( funny what late night conversations can yield) But I'm not part of the magic community anymore and certainly not on anyone's radar at the Castle! Lol!
But if they asked for a resume, I might send them one. Haha! Have fun at Unconventional!
