Great cover - is that a "Juan Tamariz" in the corner?

Richard, GREAT COVER! One of my new favorites. Is it a Ken Knowlton?

Yes, Dave, either Ken Knowles or Ken Knowlton: there is a credit for the cover on the table of contents in the lower left corner, and also at the beginning of the article beside the black and white version (which the artist prefers).

November issue arrived today (10-17-09)in St. Louis. Starting with the very cool cover (cool up close and at arm's length), the contents look great.

Yep, it is Knowlton.

I was beginning to have doubts about Magic as a legitimate art form. Roberto Giobbi restored some, if not all of my faith

Mine hasn't arrived yet. \:\(

This is the latest for my short Genii subscription life this time around. (I should explain, I previously subscribed to Genii in the late 1970's/early 1980's but then started moving around a lot and they could never catch up to me!)

I guess I'll mosey on down to my post office tomorrow and find out who's reading it before me!

J-Mac, it's just the regional post office sitting on second class mail until they decide to sort and send it further down the pipeline. I used to think it was the local post office, but someone told me it was the big regional centers.

Anyway, no need to worry, your copy will arrive.

Thank you Richard! I received my first few issues right around when everyone else said they did and didn't think much of it. I probably only noticed that this issue is a little late after seeing this thread. I don't want to miss an issue of Genii!

Thanks again,

Mine are always unpredictable. Some months I get them as soon as Richard posts they have been mailed out and others take a few weeks like this month. But, I think I've always got them before the actual month listed on the cover!

Huh?? Did I miss something? We know very well that the delay is courtesy of the USPS, not the Publisher. And if you sell it back to the Larsens, a condition of sale should be that Erika moves to the east coast.

Love the cover; love the content (as usual).

And I just have to say it: The Genii's family travels to Crownsville (twice) for the Ren Faire, but Annapolis is off-limits. Go figure . . .

Bill, I loathe driving more than 20 minutes, so the one-hour drive to the Ren fair was a big deal. We went the second time because we had a guest.

Interesting that it seems to have arrived a little later than usual for folks in the US since we mailed it on the same date as usual and via the same system we've always used (USPS). Think how the folks in the UK feel--they're postal system is on strike!

Let's see - many in USA in mid-Oct. Others in England and Canada by Nov. 3. Yet I live in a state neighboring the Genii office - I live in Virginia - and I have yet to get my Nov. issue. I realize that if I waited an entire year, I'd probably have all the issues. But it's quite frustrating to see the issue has been released and read about everyone else who has received it, yet mine doesn't show up. Seems to happen every month. Must I blame it on the Virginia post office? I have gotten Magic and the IBM and SAM mags right on time, and they use the same post office system. Just don't understand, but this experience doesn't seem like a positive one to me. Might just save my money next year.

Has nothing to do with us hgebeaux, so why take your displeasure out on us by not renewing? We mail everyone's issue on the exact same day. It has to do entirely with your regional and local post offices. Have you gone there and complained about the poor service?

I can understand your viewpoint. But, I'm the one who paid you for a subscription, so perhaps it should be Genii who complains to those post offices that don't seem to deliver the mags. If your printer were slow, you'd be the one to look into it, right? Not us. Seems a cop-out to just shrug your shoulders over the issue. And, because I paid you, not the post office, then it does seem that any displeasure, like questions and the like, should be directed to Genii. Sounds legitimate to me. Same as if I purchased an item from a store and they failed to deliver it. I'd complain, legitimately, to the store, and they, as least in my experience, would accept the complaint and look into it. For, after all, I would be their customer.
As for it being entirely my post office, I wonder why my post office is able to deliver other magazines regularly and on time? Do you think they have something against Genii?
Why not offer (maybe you do, but I missed it) a special way of receiving the mag for those interested - like we pay a bit more and you mail it to us first class?
I don't mean to be a pain about this. I'm just frustrated by the situation.
