MJ Emigh MJ Emigh Member Registered: 08/21/09 Posts: 9	Carl Ballentine was one of the greats of comedy magic. His act didn't change much over the past 60 years or so, because it didn't have to. I've seen him perform several times and had as many backstage conversations with him as those performances. That's because he was one of the sweetest guys you'll find in this lousy show business. He would always find the time for those who wanted to talk comedy and magic. The later phone calls should have been permanently recorded, as there were more laughs in one of Carl's answering maching messages than there could ever be in an HBO comedy special. A long life he led, but I'm still sad to hear of his passing. He was one of the greats, I repeat. Mac King, Penn & Teller, Michael Finney, and many others owe much to the road he paved.
