American Magic Journal edited by William A. Powers for a total of fifteen issues from June 1947 to September 1948 was listed under "Magic magazines and its pitfalls" in "Success Book Volume Two" by Frances and Jay Marshall (1974).

The Tops's (August 1947, page 6) review of the magazine lists Al Snyder as being on the the cover of the first issue.

It began in a format of 16 pages 6"x9", plus covers through the first five issues. With the sixth issue of Volume One, the size was reduced to 5"x7". There was no August issue, and in September, a combined issue was published as Vol. 2 No. 3-4 (August - September, 1948). A promised next issue of a combined October/November was never delivered.[1][2]
