Owen Magic Supreme can trace its roots to a June 1891 advertisement in Mahatma magazine by Floyd Thayer. In the August 1902 issue Floyd placed another ad, offering for sale the Wand of the West.

During the fall of 1913 Carl Owen joined the firm as an illusion builder, and was later joined by his brother Emmett. When Floyd Thayer divided the firm in 1933 the Owen brothers purchased manufacturing part.

Les Smith acquired Owen Magic in 1963, continuing it on as Owen Magic Surpreme.
