Professor Robert Hellis was a photographer, magician, magic teacher and dealer in London.[1]
He performed in venues such as The Royal Polytechnic Institution and The Brighton Aquarium.
His magic students included Professor Hoffmann and Dr. Holden.
He was a contact for Charlier and created the Hellis Change (found in Modern Magic around 1876.) [2]
In June, 1891 Hellis was listed as a passenger travelling from Liverpool to New York. His return to England is unknown but in 1895 Hellis died back in Lewisham, England.[3]
