Folding Coin is a Gaff sold by most magic shops.
One of the first books to publish this concept was Modern Magic (1876, page 203) in relation with a fake wand to produce a coin by Professor Hoffmann and it was further explained in his next book, More Magic (1890, page 309).[1]
The now classic Coin in the Bottle was first explained in The Art of Modern Conjuring, Magic, and Illusions (1885) by Henri Garenne, page 80.
