Dr. Cluade Leaf (1891-1953) was a past president of the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians, Los Magicos IBM Ring and founded the SAM Assemblies in Reno and Santa Barbara. He was a member of Spokane Mystic Circle, Oakland Magic Circle and is the sponsor of the Modern Mountebanks, a junior organization composed of boys from the age of 14 to the age of 18. Biography
He became interested in magic at the age of twelve, having assisted his father who was also a magician. Leaf came to the United States in 1912, moving to the the Western States where he lived most his life.[2]
He studied medicine and was a coach in swimming, diving and boxing.
Leaf is also known as McManus owing to the fact that he was head of the McManus Health Systems, which institution had branches throughout the West. He used the name "McManus the Magician" professionally.[3]
