Protean Deck is a trick deck by Gary Plants developed from the repertoire of Robert-Houdin and described in 1868. The deck can transform itself to consist solely of one of three selected cards when that card is placed on the bottom of the deck.

Described in Tricks with Cards by Professor Hoffmann (1889) and Greater Magic by John Northern Hilliard (1938).

Not to be confused with the Protean Deck marketed in 1976 by Barry Price.
