Scott & Muriel - Accidental Illusionists are the F.I.S.M. Grand Prix winning act of Scott Nelson & Muriël Brugman.[1]

Biography

Scott & Muriel began working together in 1999. A year later they travelled to Lisbon, Portugal to compete in the F.I.S.M. World Championships of Magic. Out of 140 contestants the judges chose Scott & Muriel as the best overall act and awarded them the prestigious FISM Grand Prix. In so doing Scott & Muriel became first comedy duo in history to win the title: World Champions of Magic.

Since then they have travelled the world delighting audiences wherever they go. They have performed in over 20 countries, both live and on television. Some of their more famous patrons include Cirque du Soleil, the Just for Laughs Festival, the Greek Isles Casino in Las Vegas, and the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo.

They call their satirical style of performance ‘Slapstick Magic.’

Scott Nelson, of California, plays a character trying to be a great magician, but nothing he does goes according to plan.  Muriel Brugman, of the Netherlands, is one of the few great female clowns in the world.  Her character is that of a naive, too eager assistant who often pays the price when the tricks go wrong.

The funny thing is: when amazing magic happens (and it does!) it’s never what Scott & Muriel - nor the audience - expects.

In 2004 they expanded their act to a complete theater show, Scott & Muriel’s B!G Show with Joe! This, 110 minute extravaganza, complete with a 4 man band, toured extensively throughout Holland, Germany, Austria and Belgium for four years. In 2009 they were invited to perform this show at the prestigious Theater Princess Grace in Monaco.

In November, 2009, Scott & Muriel were awarded the Golden Clown at the, 2nd World Festival of Clowns in Ekaterinburg, Russia. As a result of this they were invited to perform their latest act Buzzed Off on Holland’s most popular prime time TV show, De Wereld Draait Door. On this show they sawed the host, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, completely in two. As an encore they put him back together again.

In 2011/2012 they starred in the famous Big Apple Circus in New York.

In 2012/2013 their work could be seen in the Royal Palace Music Hall in Kirrwiller, France.

In 2015, they are touring the world with their two person, 90 minute full theater show: Scott & Muriel - The Accidental Illusionists... Fall in Love
