Al Leech

Alfred B. Leech ( October 19, 1918 - July 7, 1974) was born in Washington D.C, but moved to Chicago at a young age. He attended Northwestern University. He became a journalist by profession and a cardician at heart. He served in the Navy as a communications officer in the Pacific, afterwards taking a position with the United Press offices in Chicago.

In 1958 he joined the staff of Newsweek Magazine, whose editorial offices were in New York City. This brought him into contact with men like Dai Vernon, Harry Lorayne and Frank Garcia.

In 1962, All moved back to the Midwest when he accepted the post of Director of Public Relations of Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee.

He is publicity chairman for the first combined IBM/SAM convention.

One of Al Leech's signature effects was Red Hot Mama.

Al passed away after several years of fighting emphysema.
