Magicpedia:All Things Magic Edit-a-thon 2013

A MagicPedia/Wikipedia Edit-a-thon proposal, similar to the one just done for Washington D.C., that would concentrate on a range of topics around magic history.

Proposal: Hold an "edit-a-thon" in 2013 with the goal to help assimilate MagicPedia's content into Wikipedia (and vice versa). This is similar to Lee Asher's original proposal to Wikipedia's WikiProject Magic back in 2008 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Leeasher#Original_Letter_to_Project_Magic ), but include both the entire Wikipedia and magic community.

  • Ask CARC if they would be willing to host it.
  • Maybe during some upcoming magic conference (Washington Symposium on Magic History in a few weeks would have been ideal, if I had thought of it in time! )
• Advertise (forums, newsletters, tweets) and invite (Wikipedia's Wikiproject Magic, others?)
• Start selecting good candidates of notable magicians in MagicPedia that are not yet in Wikipedia
• Identify all the magic related categories on Wikipedia.

• Provide resources for new Wikipedia users
