Al Lampkin is a professional performing magician and author.

Biography

Lampkin was born Charles Allen Lampkin III in Los Angeles, California, October 5, 1938. He began performing magic for friends and family when he was eight or nine years old and went on his first tour of magic shows for Southern School Assemblies in the early 1960's performing three and four shows a day, five days a week. He toured through Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, and Louisiana for the agency and later booked his own school shows in California and Utah.

After his marriage, he headlined five USO tours with his wife entertaining U.S. Military stationed in Japan, Germany, Holland, Greece, Africa, and Hawaii. He and his wife performed on cruise ship for Princess, P.&O., and Royal Viking cruse lines cruising the Mexican Riviera and South America. His Las Vegas appearances include the Tropicana, Sam’s Town, Suncoast, and the Flamingo.

Television appearances include The Tonight Show (Starring Johnny Carson), the Mike Douglas Show, Columbo, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Truth or Consequences, the Rodney Dangerfield Comedy Special, Land of the Giants and many others including regional and national commercials. He also performed in dozens of state and county fairs plus as an actor, and member of the Screen Actors Guild, appeared in several feature films including Love Everlasting, Jackie and Ryan, and Being Charlie.

Lampkin performed and lectured at the world-famous Hollywood Magic Castle as well as at countless magic clubs and magic conventions throughout the United States plus he was selected as Best Close-Up Magician in the 1969 Pacific Coast Association of Magicians convention. He served two years as the President of the Salt Lake, Utah, Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and three years as secretary of the Orem, Utah, Assembly of the Society of American Magicians.
