European Magic History Conference (EMHC) began in 2005 when the French "Club des Magiciens Collectionneurs" organized in Paris the first conference.[1]

Its aim is to gather together the world's greatest collectors and best historians in the field of conjuring arts and its allied arts.

The first conference featured John Gaughan with the "History of Robert-Houdin‘s Trapeze Automaton „Diavolo“.

The conference takes place every two years in a different European country: France (Paris, 2005), Germany (Berlin 2007)[2], Austria (Vienna 2009), UK (London 2011)[3], Germany (Hamburg 2013).[4]

For the 10-year anniversary, in 2015, it took place again in Paris again.[5]

The 7th annual conference took place in Turin, Italy, with Silvan and Arturo Brachetti as guest stars.[6]. It was followed by the 8th Conference held in Vienna, Austria[7]. The next edition was scheduled to be held in London, UK, in 2021[8], but it was postponed to the following year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
