According to Dai Vernon in his Vernon Touch column in the Genii 1971 March, 80 per cent of the material in the book came from Sam Horowitz and that Jean Hugard was the ghost writer.

BUT if you read Kaplan's response, page 44 of Genii 1971 September, you hear another side of the story.
