Multiple Outs is a set of several alternative endings for the conclusion of a trick, but the audience only see one which they assume is the way the effect always ends.

Probably invented before books were being printed, but the term itself, based on advertisements in Genii and the Linking Rings, seems to have started in magic around 1975.
