In the 1940s, Menge was owner of the Wizard's Workshop in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in which he published a short lived newsletter called Norman's News.

Menge later moved to Columbus, Ohio, to join the U. F. Grant operation producing items under the name "G. & M."

Menge eventually went his own way in 1945 and opened another magic workshop in Columbus.
