George Davenport (b.1905-d.1962), was the eldest son of Lewis Davenport. He entered the family business as a behind-the-counter demonstrator for L Davenport & Co. then became the manager. He used the magic words "Gilly-Gilly" and, over time, more and more people referred to him as Gilly rather than George.[1]
