The book contains:
- Reminiscences of Baron Hartwig Seeman. Anecdotes include his performance of a remarkable bullet catch in Egypt.
- The story of the magician/juggler, William D'Alvini.
- A reprint of psychologist Max Dessoir's monograph on the psychology of conjuring (with added references by Burlingame to mediums).
- A brief chapter on the Bellachini (1828-1885), court magician to Kaiser Wilhelm the first.
Reprint
A limited edition (300 copies) reprint was published which included a Barrie Richardson introduction pointing out some highlights of the book as well as reproductions of Seeman and D'Alvini promotional materials and programs.
