Bernard Morris Leon Ernst]] (March 17, 1879 - November 28, 1938 ), born in Uniontown, Alabama was an amateur magician and lawyer of Harry Houdini.

Bernard's interest in magic began when he attended a performance of Frederick Eugene Powell while at the College of the City of New York, he later graduated from Columbia University. A partner in the law firm of Ernst, Cane and Berner, he specialized with copyright and theatrical matters.

He was elected president of the Society of American Magicians in 1926.

Ernst began writing a news column in the Sphinx (as well as being president of the The Sphinx Publishing Corp.) called "Among the Magicians" in the 1930s.
