He started professionally in 1921, specializing in sleight-of-hand; ed. Bellevue High School. He was later a member of both S. A. M. and I. B. M.[1]

Beatty joined the old Pittsburgh Association of Magicians in 1918 (which later became the Society of American Magicians Assembly 18).

He was taught sleight-of-hand by Silent Mora and his "REEL MOVES FOR THE RISING CARDS" effect, along with his picture was published in the March 1944 issue of the Linking Ring. [2]
