Bill Chaudet (1921-2013) (prounced Shawday) played leading hotels, supper clubs, theaters and auditoriums throughout the United States and Canada. With his wife Mary, they performed as "The Chaudets."
Harry Blackstone, publicly named him as his successor at St. Louis in 1946. For the season of 1946-47 Chaudet was Blackstone's assistant stage manager. Chaudet's wife Mary also worked as an assistant and she was Bill's assistant when he went off on his own.
Chaudet performed on numerous television shows such as "The Steve Allen Show," "The Merv Griffin Show," "The Mike Douglas Show, and "Ironsides." In addition to performing magic he became a consultant and was technical adviser for popular TV shows such as "Wild Wild West," "Gilligan's Island," "Mission Impossible," and "Get Smart" as well as for several movies, such as "Oceans Eleven" and "Cheyanne Autumn."
Chaudet was one of the pioneers of trade show magic and represented Pacific Telephone in the "Magic of Communications" for several years.
Awards and honors
In 2003 he became a member of the S.A.M. Magic Hall of Fame.
