Bill Shaner, an escape artist and magician, performs as The Amazing Shaner in the Dayton Ohio area.
Biography
In the 1970s, Shaner worked as an insurance agent and cemetery lot salesman but also traveled about the Dayton area performing escapes and magic at fairs and festivals with his three sons (Steve, Craig and Mark). One of his feats included being buried alive.[1][2]. He also served as Vice Mayor of Vandalia, Ohio in 1969.[3]
In 1970s, Shaner served as president of I.B.M. Ring NO. 5 (Dayton, Ohio) and later in the 1990s as president of Ring No. 324, Middletown, Ohio.
His wife, Sandy Shaner, opened the Abracadabra Costume and Magic Shop in Dayton, Ohio in 1994. They started a local magic club at the shop and gave magic lessons, which produced two junior members that won at the Magi-Fest competition.
