The [[Cut Deeper Force] is a method for forcing a card. How it looks: Place the deck face down and ask the spectator to cut off a small portion, turn it face up and replace it on top. Now, ask the spectator to cut off a larger portion of the deck, turn it face up and replace it on top again. Ask the spectator to spread the cards and slide out the first face-down card that appears.

Perhaps the first description in Hugard's Magic Monthly, Vol. 14, N° 6, november, 1956, page 502 under the trick "The All Fair Coincidence" by Balducci and Krenzel.

But in Marlo Meets his Match (1959), page 18, we can read : "The work of this routine... was inspired by the use of a well known Cut Force as applied to a Do As I Do routine by Balducci and Krenzel..."

So ?

There is a description of this force in Hugard's Magic Monthly, Vol. 6, N° 8, january 1949, page 501 in Roundabout with Fred Braue under the trick Little Card Rise, but not attributed to Balducci.

You will see in some magic routines as it being attributed to Henry Christ also.
