David M. Roth was a professional memory expert known for his memory course.
The first magician he remembers seeing is Alexander Herrmann, in the early 1880's, at the Cincinnati Grand Opera House.
His personal physician and neighbor was W. Golden Mortimer and he joined S.A.M. in April 1904, sponsored by George Heller.
Roth did not begin to specialize in memory work until he was forty. In 1922 he took to vaudeville circuits with a Memory Act, but was too busy with his mail order business to continue.[1]
Also in the 1920s, he helped David Bamberg develop a two-person mind-reading code that Bamberg modified for the The Ushers to use.
Roth later moved to Los Angeles, California and retired in 1960.[2]
