Dr. Victor Trask (1902-?), along with his wife Carolyn, were prominent in the Southern California magic circles and early members of the Magic Castle.[1]

Biography

His father was an avid magical enthusiast since childhood, when he was asked to assist Alexander Herrmann on the stage.

Trask's school vacations were devoted to magic during which he made his first magical friends: Virgil Mulkey (The Great Virgil), Bert Raynor, and Jimmy Stoppard.

Trask entered Oregon State College of Pharmacy, but continued to do magic on the side. During his sophomore year he met his future wife, Carolyn Reed. They were married around 1925.

He earned the degrees of Ph.G. (Pharmaceutical Graduate), Ph.C. (Pharmaceutical Chemist) B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry. He achieved his D.O. Degree at the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, then interned at the Los Angeles General Hospital. He operated as a General Practitioner, Physician and Surgeon in Pasadena for nearly 30 years.

Trask also has a long military history, retiring in 1958 as a Colonel after 33 years in the Organized Reserves in Military Intelligence. He served for eight years active duty during World War II. Later he was Director of Intelligence for the 9th Service Command locating war criminals.

Some of his tricks were submitted to Genii in the 1940s (Genii 1940 January, Genii 1940 June, Genii 1940 August.)

In the 1960s, he worked a a real-estate salesman for his wife who owned the C. Trask Realty Company of Pasadena. They retired, dividing their time between their homes at Pasadena and Laguna Beach.

Trask was a member of S.A.M. Assembly No. 22; the I.B.M.; Los Magicos; and the Magic Circle of London. He was an Honorary Member of Portland Magic Circle and Mystic 13 of San Jose. He was first President of the Pasadena Magicians Guild. [2]

Trask's bequest his magic books to Long Beach (California), IBM Ring 96, which were auctioned off at the Magic Castle and realized over four thousand dollars. [3]

The Trasks had no children.
