Fred Haenchen
Fred Haenchen (August 26, 1903 - June 6, 1983) was an American magician born in Joliet, Illinois. He first billed himself as "The Boy Houdini" performing underwater escapes while still in school.

Soon after graduating high school, he began performing in the Lyceum and Chautauqua Circuit as "Haenchen the Mystic" and the "Mysterious Haenchen" in tents throughout the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, and Texas.
With the help of Loring Campbell he got into the field of magic apparatus manufacturing and started the The Haenchen Magic Company. His best selling trick was the Broken and Restored Plate, of which he made over 700 through the years.
In 1977, he sold the company to the Viking Magic Company which formed a separate Viking-Haenchen Magic Co.
Haenchen built a home at Kingston, Oklahoma and retired from full-time manufacturing.[1][2][3]
