Gene DeVoe (1918-1989) bought the magic shop from Will Lindhorst and operated DeVoe's Magic Den in downtown St. Louis where he started many a young magician into the magic art.

Biography

A true performer, he was always behind the counter with the latest trick and a story. DeVoe also produced and manufactured several magic tricks under the DeVoe name.

He was a master magician and showman, who entertained widely in the Midwest. As a magic dealer and leader in his profession, he was highly respected throughout the United States. He was co-founder of the Midwest Magic Jubilee and a long term, active leaders in SAM assembly 8 and IBM Ring One.

Awards and honors

He was awarded the St. Louis Magical Heritage Award in 1995 by IBM Ring One and SAM Assembly 8.
