George Val George (fl. 1960s-1980s) was the stage name of George A. Searls.[1][2]
Biography
His parents did a mental act in vaudeville. In the 1940s, Searls was touring with the movie THE CRYSTAL BALL.[3] In early 1950s, Searls started what was planned to be a national tour with his mentalism act called "MIRACLES OF THE MIND" in Washington, D. C.[4] He would also sometimes worked as a department store Santa Claus at Christmas time.[5]
In the early 1960s, he started to work as a professionally as the magician "George Val George", playing bigger clubs and theaters for several years until his death.
Hall Ward in "My Very Unusual Friends" (1991) claims that Searls lived as a woman for a number of years. Hall worked with him performing as Diane Delgar, from 1948 thru 1960, being billed as the "Half-Man Half-Woman" at carnivals.[6]
