Harmon E. Baker, billed as "The Baffling Mr. Baker", performed in vaudeville and also became an actor.
Biography
Baker met Herman the Great at the age of eight, which let to his decision on a life of magic. By twelve, he was doing magic shows at birthday parties. At fifteen, a booking agent convinced his parents that he could continue his education and make money too.
He earned the Distinguished Combat Medal in World War II. where he was a pilot and was shot down in enemy territory two weeks before the war ended.
After the war, Baker was southern district manager for the H.F. Fisher Company selling X-ray and physical therapy equipment for 25 years. He still kept up his magic and in 1983 when he was invited to appear on "The TonightShow." He performed the Sub Trunk (Metamorphosis) until the age of 99.[1]
