Biography
Downs became interested in magic while in junior high school after seeing Silent Mora perform. For 32 years he was an Industrial Arts teacher in the Newton, Massachusetts (winning Teacher of the Year in 1967.) He was a loyal member of Boston's Assembly 9 and an active member of Assembly 104.[1]
Following his retirement Downs spent his time in service to the S.A.M., performing magic, and performing in local theater groups.[2]
He was elected into the Society of American Magicians Hall of Fame and Magic Museum and the library was named in his honor.
