Attributed to Gerritt M. Evans, this book is one of the earliest publications on cheating at cards.

It includes different advantages practiced by professional card sharps in short cards, banking games played with cards and dice, and gambling cons. This may be the first book to use the term "Advantage" Play.

Bart Whaley provides some background with an exploration of the identity of the author in "The Mysterious Gambler an introductory essay and The Man Who Was Erdnase Loose Ends & Dead Ends" (2009)
