Hugall Benedict (1873-1955), a lawyer, performed as "The Thanet Wizard" and played the Bournemouth District as "The Bourne Magician".[1]

Biography

As an entertainer he presented conjuring, ventriloquism, and hand shadows. In the first World War he moved to Bascombe where he entertained as The Bourne Magician until advancing years compelled him to retire.[2]

He had a splendid library of conjuring books and contributed many effects to the magical magazines in Great Britain.

Benedict was a prolific correspondent and his letters to Stanley Collins were all signed "Benny".[3][4][5]

He was elected to the Magic Circle on March 26th, 1912 and became a member of the I.B.M. in 1927 (as member No. 1592).[6][7]
