Dr. Irving Romero Calkins (October 31, 1875 - August 19, 1958), born in Three Rivers, Massachusetts, was a noted surgeon, pistol expert and President of the Society of American Magicians from 1936-1937.

Calkins began his medical practice in 1896 and continued until 1953, when he retired because of illness. He was a life member and former director of the National Rifle Association. In 1914, he set a world's record for 30 shots with a revolver and an Olympic medal winner in the pistol.

Calkins was very active in the magic community as president of the Goofus Magic Club of Springfield, Massachusetts, Ring 14 of the I. B. M. at Springfield and then the SAM National President.

The Springfield, Massachusetts Assembly No. 17 was renamed the "Dr. I. R. Calkins Assembly" in his honor.
