J. F. McDermitt (1898-1951) was a teacher and magician in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Biography

McDermitt, a veteran of the World War, was a social science teacher at Altoona High School, where he also served as assistant sports coach. He maintained an active magic club at the High School.

He and his wife were active in giving magic shows in the greater Altoona area.[1]

He sponsored J. Russell Duck into the I.B.M.[2]

McDermitt died of a heart attack at the age of 52.
