Jack Lathrop, known professionally as "Jack O'Spades," was praised by [[John Northern Hilliard]] for his skill with card fans[1]. Lathrop would loose his right index finger in an exploding firecracker accident.
Biography
An executive with the Penton Publishing Company {Steel, Iron Age, and other industrial magazines), Lathrop dreamed of becoming a full-time nightclub and vaudeville star. He developed and presented his act at every public show put on by the Cleveland Magicians' Club.
He did sleights with cigarettes, billiard balls, and cards (very similar to Cardini without the personality and acting ability).[2]
After retiring from Penton and giving up his aspirations to magic fame, Lathrop moved to Upper Michigan.
Lathrop was one of the first to introduce the enormous fan made with two packs of cards.[3]
He was member No. 2028 of the Society of American Magicians.
