James McKnight (August 14, 1900 - October 27, 1979), born in Ireland and emigrated to the United States, making his home in Newark, New Jersey was a very active in the magic organizations.

Biography

McKnight joined the SAM in 1919 and was one of the founders of the Newark Magicians' Club which started in 1920. His club reports can be seen in the Sphinx.

He performed for a time with his sister Flora, known as "The Girl with the Radio Eye", as the Great McKnights. At one time, he served as chief assistant to Blackstone, Sr.

McKnight was one of the first ten members of the I.B.M. in the early 1920s, and held membership No. 9. He was a member of the Order of Merlin Excalibur for continuous membership for 50 years. He was president and helped form Ring No. 33 in Newark, New Jersey (around 1929) and later a member and president of Ring 106, Irvington, New Jersey.

McKnight formed the World Wide Magicians Society around 1923, president he also published their official organ was The Crystal Gazer which ran until 1925. It was reported in the Sphinx in March 1926, that McKnight became ill. The organization may have disbanded about that time as reports in the Sphinx stopped at that time too.

He was also a president of the Professional Entertainers of New York. He was an inspection supervisor for the Crucible Steel Company were he worked for almost 40 years.[1]
