Jan Madd (b. 1946 France) is the stage name of professional stage illusionist Jean-Claude Coquelin.

Biography

A professional since 1960, he has starred in circuses such as "Alrex", "Regerson", "Rancy" and "Pinder".

After his first shows in the PINDER circus ORTF, he worked for two years on the well-known cruise ship, “Le France”.

Then followed contracts throughout the world. During 20 years, he performed his "Dove Act" on international stages.

In 1973, we can find him at the "Cabinet Fantastique" of the "Musée Grévin - Paris".


In 1990, he creates with Chantal Saint-Jean their own houseboat-theater : the "Métamorphosis", along the Seine, Paris

In France, people can enjoy his show in several places such as "L'Alcazar" with Jean-Marie Riviére , "L'Olympia" in several Magic Festivals and supporting-act of variety singers, "Le Lido de Paris", "Les Folies Bergère" or "Bobino", with the singer-songwriter Georges Brassens.

In Monaco, we can see his act at the "Monte-Carlo’s Sporting Club", "Les Folies Russes" at "Loews Hotel".

In Germany, "Phantasialand" in Brühl and "Hamburg’s Opera house","Summer Theater" at Dusseldorf, "Krönebau" at Munich "Deutchland Halle", "Urania Theater" and "Theater des Westens" at Berlin.

In Great Britain, he introduced himself at the "London’s Palladium" and the "Savoy Hotel".

In USA his show is seen at the "Flamingo Hotel - Las Vegas".

  • Obtained the title of "Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres" in 2013.
  • The City of Paris awarded the "Médaille d'argent" in return for a remarkable act concerning the capital to Jan Madd in 1996.
