Lester A. Grimes (1884-1963) was an electrical and mechanical engineer and part-time magician who performed as "Grimes the Wizard" in the New York - New England area starting in 1906.[1]

Biography

He was an early member of the S.A.M. and friendly with Houdini. Grimes acquired Houdini's library of books on spiritualism. A partial listing of books acquired from Houdini were listed in a two part series by Robert Lund in the MUM. [2]

He was also an expert on puzzles and had a collection of several thousand.[3]

He held patents and was the inventor of the Grimes Sprinkler, an automatic fire prevention system used in offices.
