Louis Haley (c.1857-1922), born in Wisconsin, was a piano teacher, Lyceum and Chautauqua magician, and later a magic dealer.

Biography

He first became interested in magic when Alexander Herrmann visited his home town and later met Frederick Eugene Powell.

His "Haley Reversed Card" was published in Genii 1936 October and his book "The Dramatic Art of Magic" was subtitled: A Series of Artistic Conjuring Experiments Fully Explained in Detail and Supplemented by a Preachment upon the Art in the Form of Original Essays upon the Subject, The Actor Magician.

The September 1922 issue of The Sphinx (page 259) reported the death of Haley as asphyxiation by gas in Madison, Wisconsin, stating he was 65 years old.

Tricks that he sold from his magic shop (Haley Magic Co., Madison, Wisconsin) have become collectibles.[1]
