Manfred Rose (c.1843-c.1909) was a mind-reader, conjuror and cabinet worker who performed all over Australia and New Zealand.

Biography

Born in Tasmania but came to the United States at an early age, served as a drummer in the American Civil War, eventually receiving a lieutenant's commission.

Later he went to England and became an amanuensis (employed to write what another dictates) for Charles Dickens. He then took to the stage as a mind-reader, conjuror and cabinet worker and traveled performed all over Australia and New Zealand.[1]

He the became well known all over Australia as a theatrical manager.[2]
