Margery Crandon (1888-1941) was a medium and wife of a wealthy Boston surgeon and socialite, Dr. Le Roi Goddard Crandon. She was examined by Harry Houdini who put her through several inconclusive tests. At one Séance, she produced a thumbprint in dental wax that was supposedly made by her spirit guide, Walter (her deceased brother). The print, however, turned out to be that of her very much alive dentist. Having finally been discredited, Margery slowly went out of business, dying an alcoholic.[1]
