Richard L. "Dick" Berry (b. 1930) is a professional magician as "Marko the Magician", collector and builder of illusions who has performed in eight decades.[1]

Biography

As with many amateur magicians in the early part of the 20th Century, Dick Berry caught the bug when he was given a Mysto Magic Set as a Christmas gift in 1937. As a youngster growing up during The Great Depression times were tough and young Dick Berry entertained himself by mastering the pocket tricks in the set and reading everything he could about the craft. In doing so he started a magic library which he continued to build over 70 years.

As a young boy, he worked with Blackstone the Great. With his wife Phyllis, who also toured with Blackstone, they designed and built a long running revue, called the "Theatre of Illusion" for the Circus World Museum in Wisconsin. The show was reviewed in New Tops, June 1972.

He was a member of the IBM Decatur Demons' Club, Ring No. 14 in Decatur, Illinois in the 1940s and 50s.

In 1990s he was living in Orlando, Florida.[2]
