Miguel da Fonseca - "Portuguese first prestidigitator"
Was born in São Miguel, Azores, in 1830. He was a follower of Carl Herrmann and debuted in Lisbon in 1860. Worked in Portugal and Spain. He was knighted by the Queen of Spain and a medal of merit by the King of Portugal. He created the illusion of making the little 3-year-old daughter appear in the midst of ribbons and scarves. His eldest daughter married the Spanish magician Adolfo Fó. Miguel da Fonseca died on 6 May 1885 due to an accident.
