One Ahead Principle

The One Ahead Principle is a method of keeping a step ahead of the spectator during a trick. Jean Hugard, in Hugard's Magic Monthly (March 1954), explains that his principle is used mainly in mental magic but has also been applied in several cases to tricks with cards.[1]
