Orla Moody (c.1906-1986) held I.B.M. No. 7738 beginning 1944 (a member of the Order of Merlin) and was a past president of both the P.C.A.M. (1944-1945) and the Seattle Magic Ring.

Biography

Moody became interested in magic while a student at Whitman College at Walla Walla, Washington

Let became a telephone man at Walla Walla, Spokane and Seattle, while he pursued magic as a hobby. Employed by the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. in 1928 and then transferred to AT&T in New York in 1953. His work in that capacity took him to cities throughout the country.

Orla was in frequent demand during his off duty hours at the Telephone Company to entertain groups of service men. During World War II, he donated more than 125 shows for service men in addition to performances given by many members in connection with shows sponsored by other groups such the U.S.O.[1]

Among his favorite bits of prestidigitation were card on ceiling with a dollar bill attached, cutting neckties and restoring them, and smoking empty clay pipes.[2]

He retired in 1968 and moved to Florida.[3]
