Professor J.D. Kellies

Professor J.D. Kellies (fl. 1868-) seems to have been the first magician on the stage in the U.S. after the Civil War.

Biography

Kellies was known for not using apparatus during his performances. Newspaper accounts have records of his performances dating as far back as 1868.[1][2][3]
