Pulse Stop

Pulse Stop or Pulse Control is the illusion of being able to stop your pulse at will.

Bart Whaley states in The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Magic (1989) that it was a pet effect of Indian street magicians.

Pulse Stopping is one of David Berglas' most famous effects.

Publications

  • Max Maven has stated on the Genii Forum that the earliest publication of the description of the effect he had on hand is from a British book published prior to 1854 and regarding pulse stopping as part of a more elaborate demonstration of fakirism witnessed in Runjesting, India in 1838.[1]
  • A description in The Magical Record in a 1918 issue.
  • Published by Will Goldston in his book Tricks of the Masters (1942).
