Roy A. Dohs (c.1884-1950) was known as "The man of a thousand gimmicks" and one of the founders of the Magicians' Alliance of Eastern States.

Biography

Dohs operated a mail order magicians' supply service from his shop in the cabins, which was also an informal headquarters for magicians of the area.

In 1941, his restaurant and magic shop was destroyed by fire while he was vacationing in Miami, Florida. He would rebuild.[1][2]

Dohs was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and one of the organizers and charter members of the Southern Tier Magic Club, later the Triple Cities Magic Club. He served as chairman of the New York State Conclave of Magicians in 1949.[3][4]
